How it all came together

Each year a number of citizens within the county apply for a program called Leadership Rutherford. It is a fantastic program that teaches selected participants about the county, problems and opportunities facing the county and what they can do to make a difference and lead the county into a bright future. As a requirement for graduation, each Leadership Rutherford class has to do a class project. The project must be their contribution to the betterment of the county or Leadership Program. The 2008-2009 class chose givebackrutherford.com.

So how did we come up with the idea? Our members had seen similar resources in other places listing all the volunteer opportunities for an area. This resource is very helpful to the teachers, guidance counselors and mentors within the school system, but it also is a wonderful resource for people moving into the area who want to get involved in their new community. Rutherford County does not have anything like this for the schools or citizens. Therefore, we felt as a group it would be a significant contribution if we could developed such a resource. After much deliberation we decided to make this resource available online making both access and managment of the information easier. The directory is directly downloadable from the website by clicking on download booklet. This booklet will be updated on a monthly basis to insure accuracy.

We tried very hard to make sure we put together a comprehensive list of volunteer opportunities, but there is a possibility we may have overlooked a few. If you know of any opportunities that are not included or if you are a new organization and would like to be added to our list, click here to contact our adminstrator and the information will be updated in the next booklet.

Thank you for your support and willingness to give back to Rutherford County. We welcome any feedback or suggestions. Contact us.
